Kappa HealthWelcome to KAPPA-Health

The overall objective of KAPPA-Health is to contribute to the creation of the most favourable support environment to SMEs and to accelerate the process of bringing new products/processes/services by them to the market.

KAPPA-Health identified the most important success factors out of the SMEs experience in their participation in FP6 or FP7 projects. Success factors can therefore clearly serve as recommendations for less experienced SMEs, like newcomers to the FP and become a preferred “check-list” for SMEs with respect to “things to take into account” for better exploiting the research resulting from LSH/Health projects in the near future.

The Key Success Factors for SMEs participating in FP research projects

Based on SME’s interviews and discussions with stakeholders, KAPPA-Health has identified “Key performance factors“ for successful participation of SMEs in EU-funded Health research projects.

The main objective of the KAPPA-Health project was to identify these tangible aspects of success and determine how they influence an SME’s ability to exploit the results of research conducted within FP6 and FP7 projects.

A recent study financed by the European Commission within the project “KAPPA-Health” found that over 90% of research-intensive SMEs having participated in a FP6 co-financed research project considered their participation as a success and 50% of these have already generated commercial return.

The KAPPA-Health project aims to assess the success factors which lead healthcare companies to generate value from their participation in a co-funded research project, and to determine how this can be planned at the time the decision is made to apply for an FP7 project.
